Alyssa Rametta, Career Advisor & Industry Relations Manager for the Department of Mechanical Engineering, has received the 2026 Award for Excellence in Career Advising, given annually to recognize an individual who integrates career advising in exemplary ways while serving undergraduates.

Rametta brings nearly a decade of experience to the task of guiding undergraduate students into professional roles, serving in both alumni relations and career services positions across a number of institutions.

In her work at Virginia Tech, she regularly hosts career development workshops and individual career advising for mechanical engineering students. She coordinates dozens of employer engagement events for companies to interface with students for internships, co-op, and full-time opportunities.

According to the description, the Award for Excellence in Career Advising was established in 1989 to recognize the value of career advising at Virginia Tech. It is presented annually to an individual faculty or staff member within Virginia Tech, but external to the office of Career and Professional Development, who provides career advising to undergraduate students at Virginia Tech. It is sponsored by the Virginia Tech Office of Career and Professional Development.
