Virginia Tech partnered with several regional institutions for the Virginia Robotics Symposium (VRS), bringing together robotics researchers for a one-day event with research talks, poster presentations, and social activities. Participants came together to build connections, disseminate research ideas, and facilitate the creation of large, multi-institutional, and interdisciplinary teams across the Commonwealth. The gathering took place on November 14th, 2025, at the University of Virginia Link Lab in Charlottesville.

In addition to Virginia Tech, researchers  joined the University of Virginia, George Mason University, George Washington University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the College of William & Mary for research talks, poster presentations, and social activities.

Dylan Losey, associate professor in the Virginia Tech Department of Mechanical Engineering, was one of the coordinators.

"During the event faculty and students presented their latest research through invited talks, interactive demos, and poster sessions," Losey said. "The community also debated open questions in robotics, including the role of foundation models and humanoid robots."

The organizers plan to make the event a yearly series with next year being hosted at Virginia Tech.
