Dwight Jones, a junior mechanical engineering student from Glen Allen, Virginia, has been chosen to participate in the Stanford Exposure to Research and Graduate Education (SERGE) at Stanford University.

SERGE gives students considering graduate school the opportunity to explore the research process and gain a better understanding of the day-to-day realities of doctoral student life. Through workshops and application preparation, participants will be able to take steps toward their advanced degree.

Jones is a couple years away from graduate school, but excited for the chance to get a head start on what graduate life might look like for him.

“All of the talks I've had with Stanford professors, alumni, and current students has made me incredibly excited to make the leap to attend Stanford in the coming future,” said Jones. “This year at SERGE, I really hope to get a better insight on what a graduate level education is like at Stanford, as well as get a better insight to the research opportunities that are available to students like myself at the graduate level. I would like to thank all of the Virginia Tech faculty and staff that have helped me be able to have this opportunity.”
