Hassan Aref Memorial Lecture
Hassan Aref was dean of the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech from 2003-2005. He served as professor in Engineering Science and Mechanics until 2011. He is known for having developed the concept of chaotic advection in fluid mechanics which has had worldwide impact.

Kevin Granata Memorial Lecture
Kevin Granata was a professor of Engineering Science and Mechanics at Virginia Tech from 2003-2007. He was passionate about his family and his work as an educator and researcher. He developed innovative methods to quantify low back stability that are considered cutting edge by the field. Leaders in the field of movement dynamics called him “among the top five biomechanics researchers in the country.”
