Kiara McMillan, a mechanical engineering graduate student and New Horizons Graduate Scholar, has won the best paper award at SciTech 2022, the annual meeting of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).  AIAA SciTech is the largest technical event in the world for aerospace research. 

McMillan, who is finishing her master's degree, competed in a pool of mostly PhD graduate students. Her paper was selected based on manuscript and presentation quality.

She is also a graduate research assistant in the lab of Pinar Acar.
