With energy demand on a steady rise, ensuring access to reliable power is becoming a central challenge. This seminar will explore the critical role of nuclear energy in meeting this demand. Looking into how these pressures are reshaping the industry—prompting the restart of previously closed nuclear plants, accelerating the development of advanced nuclear technologies, and fostering innovation across the sector.
Elisa Calvo Tone is the Director of Fuel New Business for Framatome Inc North America and United Kingdom with focus on strategy and business development. She is responsible for the growth of the Fuel Division in new businesses and technical areas, which includes being responsible for advanced-reactor business and helping to build the supply chain infrastructure for the Fuel aspects of this new business area.
Mrs. Calvo Tone graduated from Polytechnic School of Engineering of Torino, Italy, with Bachelor and Master degrees in Nuclear and Renewable Energy Engineering. She started working in the Framatome SAS in Paris as Safety Analyses lead for the Flamanville EPR.
In 2011, she joined Framatome Inc as Supervisor of Safety Analyses for the Pressurized Water Reactor fleet leading efforts in methodology development and fleet applications, specifically involved with NRC licensing approvals.
Mrs. Calvo Tone covered also the business development manager role. In that role, she developed strategic relationships with Small Modular Reactors developers to establish fuel security of supply.
In her current role, Elisa is responsible for the strategic development of the HALEU supply chain for Framatome both in the US and for Europe. In this role, she is a key lead in the global strategic advancement of the Advanced Nuclear supply chain and security of supply. Elisa is also involved in Framatome’s development of isotopes for medical applications strategy with the mission to secure treatment for more patients around the globe.
Mrs. Calvo Tone is also part of the American Nuclear Society and she is currently Chair for the Virginia ANS Chapter. She is also a children advocate for the Court Appointed Special Advocate, CASA association.
