Tuan graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 and a M.S. in Systems Engineering in 2011, both from Virginia Tech. He is currently a mechanical/systems engineer for Marconi Edison responsible for the design, integration, and testing of UAS payloads. During his career he has held engineering positions working on payload pods at Northrop Grumman, aircraft simulators at Rockwell Collins, and jet engine exhaust systems at General Electric Aviation.
