Janelle T.H. Jackson
Janelle T.H. Jackson is an active duty member of the United States Air Force. She received her commission through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Virginia Tech in 2000. She also received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 and her PhD in Integrative STEM Education, Curriculum and Instruction in 2024 from Virginia Tech. Throughout her career, she gained extensive experience in aircraft subsystems engineering, space launch range operations, program management, legislative affairs, and basic scientific research. She has been a Commander at the United States Air Force Academy, within the Air Force Recruiting Service, and at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). She is presently the Deputy Director and Detachment 14 Commander of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Arlington, VA. In this role she leads the management of the United States Air Force’s global basic research investment.
Janelle is an unwavering advocate for Integrative STEM Education and the wellness of students. She enjoys developing collaborative relationships as well as influencing future generations to be scientists, educators, and engineers.
